West Shore Community Wildfire Protection Project

Reduce Wildfire Risk and Restore Forest Health

Overview

The West Shore Project is a collaborative effort to reduce wildfire risk and restore forest health across 6,311 acres on the Lassen National Forest and focuses on the high-priority Wildland Urban Interface along Lake Almanor’s west shore.

Thinning and prescribed fire will reduce surface and ladder fuels, improve forest structure, and enhance recreational access along trails and campgrounds. The project was in partnership with the South Lassen Watersheds Group and it aligns with broader regional efforts to restore fire-adapted ecosystems.
