About

The Sierra to California All Lands Enhancement (SCALE) project connects 15–18 landscape collaboratives across California to share strategies for forest and watershed restoration, community resilience, and adaptive management. These collaboratives are grounded in the unique ecological and cultural contexts of their respective regions and work to restore landscapes while supporting community well-being.

As California faces intensifying wildfire seasons and climate-driven disturbances, the SCALE network facilitates peer learning and solution-sharing among local, state, Tribal, and federal partners.

What We Do

Supported by the Sierra Institute, SCALE convenes biannual conferences that strengthen connections across the state and amplify collective impact.

These convenings foster innovation, adaptive management, and the sharing of best practices. Through SCALE, collaboratives build capacity to respond to evolving social, political, and environmental challenges while advancing landscape-scale restoration efforts.

Sierra Institute’s Role

The Sierra Institute facilitates SCALE and provides backbone support to the partnership. We design convenings that uplift regional leadership, foster innovation, and build capacity for community-centered land stewardship throughout California.

Support SCALE 2026 and Beyond

Sierra Institute is proud to host the brightest minds in landscape restoration at our annual in-person SCALE (Sierra to California All Lands Enhancement) conference. With shifts in agency priorities and funding we want to ensure we are able to continue to offer this invaluable space for peer-support, innovation, and community building– and we need your support.
