Human Resources Specialist

Review of applications beginning on June 16th, 2025

We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Specialist to join our growing team. The HR Specialist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of human resources practices and processes, including employee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, onboarding, compliance with employment laws, and fostering a positive work culture. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping people thrive in their careers. The HR Specialist will play a vital role in supporting Sierra Institute employees as they work collectively to advance landscape restoration and community resilience efforts. This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate’s availability.

Wages:

Mid-level range: $65,000 – $75,000 annually;

Senior-level range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually


Accounting Specialist III

The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Accounting Specialist III. In cooperation with the Financial Manager, the selected candidate will assist in the execution of the organization’s financial accounting functions, including grants management and related financial reporting. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Sierra Institute’s Financial Manager and will work closely with program staff on identified grants, agreements, and contracts. The ideal candidate is proficient with financial accounting software and non-profit accounting principles, and possesses grant management and payroll experience. Review of applications will begin on June 15; position open until filled.

Wages: Between $60,000 – $75,000 annually


Wood Utilization Project Coordinator

The Wood Utilization Project Coordinator/Manager will advance development of the organization’s wood product campus at Crescent Mills with a specific focus on launching Mosaic Timber, California’s first Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) manufacturing operation. This is an exciting opportunity to lead development of CLT manufacturing and an innovative wood product campus tied to landscape restoration and community revitalization efforts following the 2021 Dixie Fire. Candidate will advance the critical bridge between landscape management and wood utilization.

This is a multi-year position with long-term growth potential for increased project responsibilities and potential for assuming increased staff leadership responsibilities.

Wages: Between $70,000 to $105,000 annually





Wilderness Fuels Module Crew

The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment (Sierra Institute), in cooperation with the Lassen National Park (LAVO) is hiring Wilderness Fuels Module (WFM) crew member(s) to serve on an eight person crew performing fuels management in LAVO to promote future prescribed and/or managed fire activities in wilderness and non-wilderness areas of the park. This work will also directly contribute to increasing fire resiliency of critical habitat for Northern Goshawk and California Spotted Owl. This is a full time seasonal position with a term of June 2025-October 2025.
